Rosalind Todd has devoted a lifetime to education, community service, and the advancement of square dancing in Australia. Born and raised in Hornsby, NSW, she began her professional journey as a dedicated educator after graduating from Teachers’ College, supporting students with diverse learning needs throughout her long and respected teaching career.
Rosalind’s love of dance began in childhood with ballet and grew to encompass jazz, tap, ballroom, and Scottish dancing. She discovered square dancing in her late teens—an introduction that not only sparked a lifelong passion but also led her to meet her husband, David, at a local dance. Together, they founded the highly successful D Bar T Square Dance Club, participating in events across Australia and internationally, including representing Australia at the First Canadian National Square Dance Convention in 1978.
After stepping back to raise their family, Rosalind and David returned to the activity with renewed enthusiasm, establishing the Mountain Devils Square Dance Club in the Blue Mountains. Now celebrating its 30th year, the club remains a vibrant and welcoming hub for dancers of all ages.
Beyond the dance floor, Rosalind has been a driving force in the organisational and promotional life of the square dance community. Since 2000, she has served as Coordinating Editor of the Australian Square Dance Review, championing the activity nationally and internationally through high‑quality editorial leadership. Her commitment has extended to numerous state conventions and leadership roles, and in 2011 she was honoured with Life Membership of the Square Dance Society of NSW for her outstanding service.
Rosalind and David were appointed convenors of the 2020 Australian National Square Dance Convention, a role they undertook with great passion before the event’s cancellation due to the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Today, Rosalind continues to shape the future of the activity as Secretary of the Square and Round Dance Association of NSW and President of the National Square Dance Society of Australia. Through her promotional work, editorial expertise, and steadfast leadership, she remains a respected advocate for ensuring square dancing remains vibrant, relevant, and accessible for generations to come.
